In a statement on Tuesday, the Press and Communications Center of the Eastern Kurdistan Defense Units (YRK) reported that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have intensified attacks against its forces in recent weeks.
The statement said:
“As our people and the public know, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have recently carried out attacks against our forces on multiple fronts. As the YRK, we have consistently informed our people and the public about the consequences of these attacks.
We emphasize once again that the YRK has always maintained its political stance and third-line policy in the face of conflicts and wars in Iran. We have not supported any side, nor have we carried out attacks against the Iranian regime. Even during the regime’s weakest moments, we remained committed to our own principles and line.
Following the recent agreements with the United States, the Revolutionary Guards, security forces, and intelligence agencies of Iran have significantly increased their attacks against our people and our forces. Taking advantage of the current situation, they are cowardly targeting our fighters.”
The YRK said that a military operation had been launched in the Mahabad region, in the vicinity of the village of Gagesh, on the night of June 27. It added that it had informed the public about the operation at an early stage but had limited information at the time.
The statement continued:
“According to the information available to us and reports from the area, a heavily armed force launched an attack against our units during this operation. The attacks resulted in casualties among the Revolutionary Guards. At the same time, four of our comrades—two women and two men—resisted until the very end and fell as martyrs with great courage. Their identities will be announced to our people and the public at a later date.”
The YRK concluded by saying it would assess the recent attacks through its relevant decision-making bodies and reiterated that if such attacks continue, its response would change.
“We once again make it clear that these attacks will not go unanswered.”
